Probation and Parole Violations

Pennsylvania Lawyer for Parole and Probation Violations

If you are on parole or probation, your life will be closely watched by the legal system. Just one alleged mistake could lead to the loss of your freedom. That is why it is critical to take extra care during this time. And, if you are accused of violating parole or probation, working with an experienced attorney is important to protecting your interests.

Since 1980, I — Michael F. Dunn, Attorney at Law — have been representing people throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania in a wide range of legal matters, including violation of parole or probation. If you or someone you love has been accused, contact my at my Glenside, Pennsylvania, law office as soon as possible at 215-392-4361.

Reasons for Probation or Parole Violations

With so many strict requirements placed on an offender, there are many reasons that people allegedly violate probation or parole:

  • Missing an appointment with a probation officer or parole officer
  • Failing to pay fines or costs
  • Failing to complete courses or obtain jobs
  • Committing a new offense
  • Having a positive drug test

Lifting or Modifying Detainer

If a loved one is accused of violating the terms of their probation, they may be detained in jail until the time of their probation violation hearing. This can be as long as three or four months. An experienced attorney may be able to negotiate with the sentencing judge and have the detainer lifted early so that your loved one can return home until the hearing. It may also be possible to have the probation violation hearing moved up on the court calendar.

If you have been accused of violating parole or probation, taking fast action is the best way to protect your rights and your freedom. Contact me — Michael F. Dunn — by calling 215-392-4361 or by completing my online contact form. Initial consultations are free and confidential.
