Probate, Wills, and Estate Planning Administration
A will is probated for the executor to gain the official legal capacity to handle the assets of the decedent. The executor, as a result of probate, gets appointed and collects decedent monies into one account to pay any bills of the decedent and distribute the amount left over to the rightful beneficiaries. I file any necessary notices to the county and beneficiaries and assist with the payment of all necessary taxes.
I also assist clients in drafting the following documents that may help alleviate confusion at an already difficult time:
- Last will and testament: indicate how you want your possessions distributed after you die
- Living will: appoint a proxy to communicate your wishes to the doctor if you can't speak for yourself due to a medical condition from which there is no expected recovery
- Power of attorney: appoint an agent to handle, in the event of your incapacity, the care of your children, your finances, the management of real property, and payments to creditors, or to arrange for assistance in a nursing home
Personal Injury
If you have suffered due to the negligence of another, I can help you collect full and fair compensation for the accident. I represent clients hurt in situations such as:
- Car accident or car crash
- Slip and fall (premises liability)
- Dog bites
- Medical malpractice
- Nursing home neglect
- Defective products (ladder falls apart, chair breaks)
All personal injury cases are handled on a contingency basis. There is no fee unless I recover damages for you. Let me help you through the legal practicalities as you focus on getting on with your life. Contact Michael F. Dunn, Attorney at Law for your free initial consultation.
